Tirumala darshan timings

Tirumala darshan timings change with the day of the week. On most days the Sri Venkateswara temple opens for darshan at 7 am, but on Fridays Abhishekam pushes it to 9 am, and night darshan ends earlier. Pick a temple, the city you are travelling from and your date to see that day’s darshan windows, the sevas that close the temple, the drive time and when to leave.

How Tirumala darshan timings work through the week

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) publishes a weekly programme rather than one fixed timetable. Every day starts with Suprabhatam at 3 am, followed by Thomala Seva and Archana, which are performed privately (ekantam). General darshan then runs in long windows through the day and late into the night, broken by the evening Suddhi, when the temple is cleaned and closed for about an hour.

On Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday the pattern is the simplest: darshan from 7 am to 7 pm, a closure from 7 pm to 8 pm, and darshan again until about 1 am before Ekanta Seva. Tuesday adds Ashtadala Pada Padmaradhana at 6 am. Thursday adds Tiruppavada in the morning and Poolangi Alankaram in the evening. Friday is the day that changes most: Abhishekam runs from 4.30 am to 6 am, darshan opens at 9 am, and the night window is only 9 pm to 10 pm.

On normal days about 18 hours are allotted to Sarva Darshan, the free darshan, and on peak days TTD stretches it to about 20 hours. The planner above applies these rules for whatever date you pick.

Types of darshan at Tirumala

Sarva Darshan is free and open to everyone. Pilgrims wait in the compartments of Vaikuntam Queue Complex II, where TTD provides free Annaprasadam, milk, tea and coffee every three hours, drinking water, toilets and a medical post. The wait depends entirely on the crowd, from a few hours on a quiet weekday to a full day on festival weekends.

Special Entry Darshan, also called Seeghra Darshan, was introduced in 2009 for pilgrims who want a shorter queue. It is booked in advance only through the official portal, ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in, and the reporting time is printed on the ticket. Divya Darshan is meant for pilgrims who climb the hill on foot through the Alipiri or Srivari Mettu footpaths. Separate darshan arrangements exist for the elderly and the physically disabled.

Arjitha sevas, such as Suprabhatam, Kalyanotsavam and Sahasra Deepalankarana Seva, are paid rituals you attend in person. TTD allots only one seva per registered user within 180 days of quota availability, and a maximum of two tickets for the same seva on the same day.

Booking rules to know before you plan

Registration on the TTD website is mandatory for booking arjitha sevas and accommodation. One accommodation booking is allowed per registered user within 90 days of quota availability. After booking, a confirmation email is sent and the reporting time appears on the receipt.

TTD does not sell darshan tickets through agents, and this site does not sell or book anything. Every booking link here goes to the temple trust’s own website.

Staying at Tirumala

TTD runs guest houses around the Sri Padmavathi and Sri Venkateswara guest house areas, along with cottages, marriage halls and free choultries where electricity and water are provided at no charge. Free rooms and dormitory halls are allotted at the Central Reception Office near the Tirumala bus stand. Rooms must be vacated within 24 hours; TTD charges enhanced rent if a pilgrim overstays.

If rooms on the hill are full, most pilgrims stay in Tirupati, which is 22 km and about 25 minutes by road from Tirumala, and travel up early for their darshan slot.

Getting there: drive times from major cities

By road, Tirumala is about 158 km from Chennai (around 2 hours), 270 km from Bengaluru (about 3.5 hours), 439 km from Vijayawada and 571 km from Hyderabad (about 7 hours 15 minutes). Distances here are road distances from OpenStreetMap routing and do not include ghat road checking at Alipiri, which can add time on busy days.

The planner works out when to leave so you reach the temple an hour before the first darshan window. For long drives such as Visakhapatnam to Tirumala, that means setting out the previous evening.

Other temples in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

Yadagirigutta, the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Telangana, is 64 km from Hyderabad. The temple opens at 3.30 am with Suprabhatam, darshan runs from 7 am in several windows through the day, it closes for Maharaja Bhogam from 12 pm to 1 pm, and it shuts at 9.45 pm. VIP break darshan is held from 9 am to 10 am and again from 4 pm to 5 pm.

Srisailam, home to the Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga, is 207 km from Hyderabad and 131 km from Kurnool. Its darshan timings are not listed here yet because we have not been able to verify them on the Devasthanam’s own published schedule; the planner still shows the drive time.
