The ₹300 Special Entry Darshan is the ticket most families use to see Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala without spending a day in the free queue. It is sold only in advance, only online, and only on the official TTD portal. What the Special Entry Darshan is

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams introduced Special Entry Darshan, also called Seeghra Darshanam, on 21 September 2009 to give pilgrims a quick darshan. Advance booking began on 27 August 2014. TTD’s own daily status reports list it as the “Special Entry Darshan (Rs.300 Darshan)”, alongside the free Sarva Darshan and the footpath Divya Darshan.

The ticket buys you a place in a separate, shorter queue for a fixed reporting slot. It is not a VIP or break darshan, and it does not include a seva.

How to book the ₹300 ticket online

Booking is done only through the official portal, ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in. Create an account first; TTD requires registration for its online services, and it is worth doing a few days before tickets open so you are not typing details while the quota sells out. Choose Special Entry Darshan, pick a date and a time slot from what is available, add the pilgrims, and pay.

A confirmation is emailed after booking, and the reporting time appears on the ticket. Tirumala.org does not publish the price, the monthly release date or the per-booking limits on its public pages, so read them on the portal itself on the day you book. Quotas for popular dates go quickly, so book as soon as your travel dates are fixed.

Beware of sites and social media accounts offering “confirmed” darshan tickets. TTD does not sell darshan tickets through agents, and this site does not sell or book anything.

How long the Special Entry queue takes

TTD publishes a running status of all three queues. On the days it has reported, the Special Entry line ranged from “direct”, meaning pilgrims walked straight through, to 3 compartments and a 6 hour wait, with a line outside and 5 hours on a very busy day. On those same days the free queue ranged from 4 hours to 26 hours.

So the ticket reliably saves time, but it is not a guarantee of a short visit on peak days. Leave room in your plan for a few hours in the queue, particularly on weekends and during Brahmotsavam.

Planning the day around your slot

Work backwards from the reporting time on your ticket. From Tirupati the road up to Tirumala is 22 km and takes about 25 minutes by car, and APSRTC buses leave every two minutes. Remember that vehicles are not allowed on the ghat road between midnight and 3 am, so an early morning slot means staying on the hill or leaving Tirupati after 3 am.

If you are driving from further away, the planner on the homepage adds the drive from Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam or Kurnool and suggests when to leave. Build in time for parking and the security check so you reach the queue before your reporting time.

What to check before you travel

Keep the ticket with you, and read the portal’s instructions for the ID, dress code and any restrictions that apply to your date, because TTD changes arrangements during festivals, Vaikunta Ekadasi and eclipses.
