Rooms in Tirupati run by TTD
Checked 2026-09-16 against the official sources below
When rooms on Tirumala hill are sold out, most pilgrims stay in Tirupati and travel up for darshan. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams runs several large rest houses in the town, placed next to the bus stand and the railway station, at prices far below private hotels. These are the options TTD lists, with the tariffs shown on its own website.
TTD rest houses in Tirupati at a glance
The table below lists the rooms and rates published on tirumala.org’s Accommodation at Tirupati page. TTD revises tariffs from time to time and the page may lag the booking portal, so treat these as a guide and confirm the price when you book.

Srinivasam and Madhavam: opposite the bus stand
Srinivasam Complex stands opposite the RTC bus stand, which makes it the most convenient base if you are catching an APSRTC bus up to Tirumala. It offers non-AC, AC and AC deluxe rooms. Madhavam Guest House is next door and has AC suites for pilgrims who want a little more comfort. Both can be reached on 0877 2264541.
Srinivasam also has dormitories, free lockers, toilets, bathing rooms and a first aid centre, and TTD serves Annaprasadam there, so it works well even for pilgrims who only need a few hours’ rest before heading up the hill.
Vishnu Nivasam
Vishnu Nivasam is one of TTD’s large complexes in Tirupati, with rooms from ₹300 to ₹1,300 a day. A “day” means 24 hours from the time of allotment, and allotment is subject to availability. Unlike most TTD rooms, Vishnu Nivasam keeps a limited number of rooms for current booking, so walk-in pilgrims have a chance on arrival. Annaprasadam is served here too.
Budget dharmasalas near the railway station
If you arrive by train, the Sri Venkateswara Dharmasala directly opposite Tirupati railway station has single rooms at ₹50 and double or four bed rooms at ₹100, and the Sri Venkateswara Guest House just north of the station has 51 non-AC rooms at ₹150. Both work on current booking only, so you cannot reserve them ahead. The Sri Govindaraja and Sri Kodandarama Swamy dharmasalas offer rooms at ₹50 with free lockers.
How to book and getting up the hill
Except for the limited current booking rooms at Vishnu Nivasam and the station dharmasalas, TTD rooms in Tirupati are booked online in advance on ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in. Registration is required, and one accommodation booking is allowed per registered user within 90 days of quota availability.
From Tirupati, Tirumala is 22 km and about 25 minutes by road. APSRTC buses leave every two minutes from four bus stations in the town, including one opposite the railway station and the Balaji link bus station at Alipiri. Vehicles are not allowed on the ghat road between 12 am and 3 am, so plan early morning darshan slots around that.
